This is the natural habitat of the buffalo, the prairie dog, deer, antelope, coyotes, and all kinds of other Lakota “relatives.” Come hear our Lakota voices, our Lakota stories… told by our Lakota people. This is a land of great expanses ranging from the stark shapes and subtle colors of the Badlands, to the prairies, dotted with wildflowers in the summer, to the buttes and cedars. ![]() It is our Indigenous Knowledge that will awaken humanity to become better caretakers of our Mother Earth. Two-spirit (also two spirit, 2S or, occasionally, twospirited) is a modern, pan-Indian, umbrella term used by some Indigenous North Americans to describe Native people in their communities who fulfill a traditional third-gender (or other gender-variant) ceremonial and social role in their cultures. Their blood flows through our people today. Our Lakota culture is vibrant and alive with creative expressive song and dance that connects us to our ancestors. To this day we share those stories of battle and triumph with our younger generations as example of how to overcome obstacles in this new era. Our modern warriors and leaders of today are recognized as scholars, entrepreneurs, artists, community outreach activists and role-models that reside in all our communities. The Lakota are remembered as a very strong and fierce tribe with legendary warriors. The Lakota people are one of the seven council fires four Dakota bands Mdewakanton, Wahpekute, Wahpeton, Sisseton, two Nakota bands Yankton, Yanktonai and a Lakota band Teton. One Spirit hires Lakota workers, provides them with necessary equipment, then pays them to deliver harvested firewood to homes in need.
